Barry & Rachel Discuss Mental Wellness

January 19, 2022

Nearly every company in the country is hiring and struggling to locate qualified workers. The Great Resignation is in full effect and more workers are leaving the workforce then entering. Salaries are rising at record levels and companies are struggling to meet their deliverables due to lack of employees. The talent crunch is forecast to remain throughout 2022 and well into 2023. How are companies going to survive?

Paying higher then market salaries, giving more PTO, flexible hours, virtual employment are the common ways that companies are attempting to tackle this challenge. In my opinion, this helps, but the key to growing a company that is often overlooked during a hiring frenzy is retaining your current team and building a culture of empowerment and mobility within the organization.

During the 2020 Olympics, top gymnast Simon Biles elected to skip events due to mental exhaustion. In recent years sports psychology has been at the forefront of team and individual sports and greatly increased performance. Employees experience similar pressures to athletes and workplace mental support has long been neglected until recently. As our MWS team hires internal team members and we grow across the country, it is imperative that we provide the best training and work culture possible.

As part of our building culture, MWS has added Rachel Viglietta as our Performance Enhancement Coach/Consultant. Rachel’s experience working with professional athletes in team sports gives her insight on how best to work with employees to give them confidence to reach their potential. Rachel is working with our team to break down daily stress, their work challenges and how best mentally to achieve their goals. Over the past two months, our team culture has improved and so has our performance!

Attracting and retaining employees is a complicated puzzle and the journey should be rewarding and benefit your team.
